All of the Sidemens first videos

All the first videos ever created by the Sidemen.

This article details a timeline of the Sidemen since the groups inception in October 2013.

Creation

The Sidemen "officially" formed on 19 October 2013. At this point, it was just six members. For more in-depth information about the formation of the group, click here.

At this point in time, Harry was just 16 years old. Although known as The Sidemen today, the group was known as 'The Ultimate Sidemen' in 2014.

W2S Joining

As they only officially formed the previous year, the group were predominantly an online gaming group of YouTubers, as opposed to the commercial brand they are known as today. They mainly collaborated over video games, such as Grand Theft Auto V.

Wroetoshaw was officially integrated into the Sidemen in February. As the group was not very popular at the time, his inclusion was no big deal and happened over time.

In December 2014, "The Ultimate Sidemen Wiki" was created.

Popularity Boost

81003e41be68c50305e5244c00529d6e

2015 was the year in which the popularity of the Sidemen skyrocketed. KSI published his first book (I Am a Bellend), filmed a feature-length movie with Caspar Lee, appeared on mainstream UK television and entered the music industry. In March, the Sidemen took to the U.S for the first time. A return trip was on the cards in June when some - but not all - members of the group visited Los Angeles with many of their other online friends.

On top of the usual challenge videos, which were more unique and professional than before, the Sidemen attended multiple gaming conventions across both Europe and the UK. The most notable of these being Insomnia 54 in April.

TBJZL passed his driving test in January and bought an Audi A3 in February, while Vikkstar123 unveiled he'd bought his Aston Martin V8 Vantage in May.

2015 was also the year Swegways gained popularity. Miniminter admitted in a video to pleasuring himself whilst riding one, which became an ongoing joke in later videos. The boards were banned for public use in the UK among many other locations around the world just a few months later. Wroetoshaw had his nudes leaked in the Twitter hack of April and bought a new Lamborghini in August, whilst Ethan became the last member of the Sidemen to surpass one million subscribers on his main YouTube channel.

On 27 December 2015, Zerkaa uploaded a video named "Googling Myself!" At 7:12 in the video, Josh viewed this wiki. He gave a major popularity boost to it with an additional 50,000 views appearing over the following days.

Charity Football Match

The Sidemen's popularity continued to increase in 2016. Possibly the biggest event for the group in 2016 was the charity football match they hosted, which took place in St Mary's Stadium, Southampton on 3 June. The match was successful with donations and views, raising over £100,000 for the chosen charities. In conjunction with the event, the "Sidemen" YouTube channel was created, and a live stream of the match was uploaded to it.

KSI's movie, Laid in America (co-starring Caspar Lee) was released to (mostly) negative reviews with a large majority of people pirating the film. Miniminter and Vikkstar123 released videos displaying their new cars. More notably, Sidemen: The Book was published after almost a years worth of planning and work. An audio-book was released at a later date and general reviews of the book were overwhelmingly positive. It reached number one in charts and branded the sidemen members best selling authors. In the Autumn, the Sidemen organised their own event entitled Upload. This event was a success but did not receive the same amount of coverage as the football match did back in the summer.

2017

Stagnation

In 2017, the sidemen continued uploading regular content, apart from KSI who took a break from all social media platforms for around 4-5 months. KSI deleted hours worth of content from his channel, and blacked out his profile pictures on social media. He claimed to be 'evolving' but returned to the public eye around June of 2017.

Following the success of the charity football match the previous year, the Sidemen hosted their second match in June. They lost this game 2–0 to the YouTube All stars team.

The Sidemen War

Main article: 2017 Sidemen War

While the sidemen remained popular in the UK, their audience did not continue to grow at the rate it had been in previous years. In August 2017, JJ uploaded a video announcing his "departure" from the group, claiming that Ethan was one of the reasons. This sparked what is known as diss track season, a period of time in which the sidemen aimed diss tracks at each other and 'exposed' one another due to drama. Other UK YouTubers joined in, along with Deji and Netnobody. Once JJ returned from America, it was revealed he hadn't actually left the group and that the drama was mainly fabricated to attract a larger audience. He did, however, mention that the diss tracks between him and Harry were not as fabricated, especially as both exposed extremely personal information.

In September, the sidemen hosted their second Upload event, following the success of the event the previous year. During the event, a boxing match was confirmed between Joe Weller and KSI for February 2018 (following some online drama the previous month) which resulted in the two personalities physically clashing on stage. This was confirmed to be the last Upload event, after two consecutive years of success.

Celebratory Videos

As the years have progressed, less and less Sidemen have been producing "end-of-year"-style celebratory videos:

2018

Sidemen

In 2018, the Sidemen launched their weekly video series branded "Sidemen Sunday". The group consistently uploaded content featuring all seven members every Sunday to their main channel.

In June, the Sidemen announced and released The Sidemen Show for YouTube Premium. The show premiered on 18 June after being in production for around a year. Also in June, the Sidemen hosted their last ever charity football match at The Valley Stadium, London. It resulted in a win for Sidemen F.C., a change from their loss the previous year. It was estimated that the Sidemen raised over £1 million for charity over their three football matches.

Boxing

The year saw KSI begin his boxing career. He fought against Joe Weller in February and won, proceeding to call out Logan Paul as his next opponent. The KSI V Logan Paul boxing match then took took place in August at the Manchester Arena, but controversially resulted in a draw. This lead to a rematch being scheduled for 2019. All of the Sidemen attended the matches in support of KSI.

End of the Sidemen House

The four members who lived in the Sidemen House moved to London in 2018. Vik announced his intention to leave in Autumn, and had moved out by November. Around the same time, Josh announced that he would be moving into an apartment with his long term girlfriend, Freya. Simon and JJ also moved out, into an apartment they now share in London. This marked the end of the members having lived together for over five years (in both the former and second Sidemen houses).

2019

2019 continued to see the group attract a larger audience. Their "Sidemen Sunday" videos gained more and more views, and were still being uploaded weekly (with a few exceptions).

Boxing

The KSI V Logan Paul rematch finally happened in November in the Staples Centre, Los Angeles - 14 months after the first fight which ended in a draw. The fights saw both KSI and Logan Paul get their professional boxing licenses, as it was announced the match would be fought without head guards. The rematch ended with a KSI winning by split decision.
